Whaia Te Pae Tawhiti (WTPT)
WTPT is an on-campus experience targeted at Year 13 Māori sutdents from outside of Tāmaki Makaurau. The programme offers attendees the opportunity to visit the University of Auckland, make connections, and introduce them to what life in Tāmaki Makaurau could look like for them! We are inviting expressions of interest from students wishing to participate in workshops, activities, and the opportunity to explore their study options further by attending Mānawa Mai, our Open Day!
The deadline for EOI is May 31st, registration link can be found here.
A reminder that applications are open for the On Campus Experience. This year we are running two OCE programmes:
Sunday 26 to Thursday 30 May – for students interested in Health Sciences and Sciences.
Sunday 7 to Thursday 11 July – for students interested in Humanities, Law and Commerce
This fantastic programme has been running for over 20 years and provides an amazing, fully paid experience for students of Māori descent to experience campus life at Otago, live in a residential college and meet an array of academics and support staff.
If you have students who are considering Otago for study in 2024 please encourage them to apply for this fantastic programme. Applications close on 15 March.
Students can apply here at: https://www.otago.ac.nz/future-students/oce/
If there are any issues with applying, please contact auckland.liaison@otago.ac.nz
Poipoia te kakano kia puawai

Our full-time programme is perfectly suited to school leavers or students looking to complete their NCEA levels who are looking to gain skills towards a career qualification.
Vision College offers small class sizes, and supportive staff, which creates a personal and productive learning environment.
I am thrilled to write to you regarding Gap Year opportunities for the Class of 2024. Applications are now open until April 2, 2024. We’ve already received applications from some outstanding candidates and look forward to meeting many more young people over the coming weeks and months. Whilst we do not operate on a first-in, first-placed basis, we do encourage interested individuals to apply at their earliest convenience.
Our application process for 2025 departures remains the same. All applicants are required to complete our online application form via the Letz Live website. In addition to the form, we also require three referees from each applicant (whom we will contact directly). Interviews remain mandatory for all applicants and are conducted with our UK team outside of New Zealand school hours. Applicants can select an interview time convenient to them, up to three weeks in advance.
I thought I would also highlight some additional pieces of information for your convenience;
Reflecting back to last year, I am pleased to advise that over 80% of applicants were offered an opportunity abroad with us this year. Since January and through to April this year, we have just under 600 participants movements alone (with more to come throughout 2024). Our recent intake and orientations were a huge success, you can read more on our blog here.
We now have three full-time team members in the United Kingdom. Ken, Will and Sophie are available to our participants (and their parents) to offer guidance and support prior to and throughout their placement.
We’re very conscious of the increasing costs of living and the overall costs associated with taking a gap year overseas. I am delighted to advise that despite this, our fee remains the same for 2025 departures and is inclusive of our in-country orientation programmes and support from our offices in Australia, New Zealand and of course the United Kingdom.
Having spoken to a good number of career advisors last year, I have included a link below to the Letz Live LinkedIn page. As the year progresses, we will use this page to provide general updates regarding our programmes and organisation. We also - finally - hope to launch placements in an exciting, new country. More to come in the coming months.
We also have several upcoming webinars to provide more information about our programmes. If you, your students or their parents wish to register they can do so here.
Please feel free to contact me or any of the team using the contact details below should you have any questions or queries regarding the programme or if you require any promotional material.
