Whāia te Pae Tawhiti is an all-expenses paid on campus experience targeted at Year 13 regional Māori students. University of Auckland update: Scholarships and enrolments
Scholarships
Applications for our School Leaver Scholarships opened at the end of May.
The closing date for these scholarships is 5:00pm 23rd August 2023.
We heard student concerns, and have since streamlined our application process. Now students only need to complete 1 application for multiple scholarships.
Please note that students must also complete a Programme Application, and an Accommodation Application alongside a Scholarship Application.
Fast Track Offers
Early Programme/Fast Track offers are made to high-achieving domestic and international school-leavers who have applied to the University of Auckland to begin their studies in Semester One 2024.
Offers will be sent out from May 2023 until early December 2023. An Early Programme/Fast Track offer is conditional (i.e. subject to the applicant meeting the University Entrance (UE) standard, the rank score and specific subject requirements for their chosen programme(s), and is based on their final results in January 2024).
To learn more about these offers please see here and join us for our upcoming webinar on 19 July 2023. Click the button below to register.
Mānawa Mai
A friendly reminder that our Mānawa Mai – Information Evening is tomorrow. Students will need to register and select the webinars they will be attending from a wide variety of topics available.
Another option is our Open day on Saturday 26th August. This is another chance for students to ask questions, speak directly to academics and current students, and explore the university campus and accommodation.
There will be free busses coming to and from Auckland for students attending Open Day as well. If they have registered for Manawa Mai, they will also receive info on booking a place on the bus.
To ensure our visitors from outside of Auckland have a good start to the day, the Schools and Community Engagement Team will be hosting a Travellers Breakfast. This info will also be made readily available for students who have registered with us.
Future Student Evening
Our Future Student Evenings are an opportunity for parents and students to hear what the University of Auckland has to offer.
Attendees will be given a quick presentation about our programmes, scholarships, accommodation, and support services. They’ll then be invited to speak to our university staff one on one to ask any questions they may have about their tertiary studies.
The Waikato Future Student Evening is set to take place on Tuesday 15th August, 6pm – 8pm, Arena Lounge - Claudelands Event Centre.
I’d greatly appreciate if the link to register for the Future Student Evening could be promoted on your local school social media channels to raise awareness and encourage attendance.
We’ve sent a hard copy of the poster for this event to each school which includes a QR code to register. If you have yet to receive this, please let me know.
School Holiday Assistance
Please feel free to give your students my email address to use if they need assistance during the school holidays.
I am more than happy to advise them on any application, scholarships, or course advice via email or zoom.
Lastly if you have any concerns or feedback regarding my role and service as the University of Auckland liaison for the Waikato region, please do let me know.
I’d like to know what support your students are needing and what areas of our service need improvement.
I hope this last week for Term 2 goes smoothly, and you also enjoy a restful school holiday. I look forward to catching up with you all next term - online or at the Future Student Evening.
