Drama

Drama is a very strong part of performing arts in our school. All Drama Achievement standards are assessed by
performance and there are many extra-curricular opportunities as well. Theatresports is played throughout the year with the juniors practising on Thursday between 3.15 and 4.00pm and the seniors practising on Friday also between 3.15 and 4.00pm. Both our senior and junior teams play in the Waikato Secondary Schools’ Theatresports competition which runs from February to August. The seniors won this competition in both 2006 and 2007 and were second in 2008.

Fairfield has also done well in the Sheilah Winn Shakespeare festival in recent years. Various performers won best
actor awards in 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010 and in 2009 Fairfield won the best fifteen minute scene and the group who performed The Tempest went to Wellington for the National Sheilah Winn Shakespeare competition.

Every year we also enter scenes in the Junior Shakespeare Competition held at Hillcrest in early November.
So if drama is your thing there are plenty of opportunities at Fairfield College.
