Congratulations to Courtney Lynch for winning a Rotary Scholarship that funded her to participate last December in the Hills Summer Science School that was held at the University of Waikato. Courtney was one of forty students selected throughout the North Island to participate in the programme. In January Courtney and fellow Fairfield College student Hannah Arnold were invited by the University of Otago to participate in a Science in the 21st century course. They will be returning to Otago University in July for a further week. I congratulate both girls for their focus and application. They both have goals to study science next year.

Congratulations to Ana Masters who has been selected to be part of a Waikato Women's Apprentice sevens squad. The squad has been selected with the 2016 Olympic Games in mind. Ana is enjoying training with current Black Ferns and is excited about the opportunity that she has to develop her skills.

Congratulations to Emily Ray who represented Fairfield College in the Race Unity Speech Competition on March 28. Emily was able to overcome her initial nerves and deliver a first class speech on Racism. She performed admirably and represented our school with distinction. Emily has accepted the invitation to speak at our school Anzac Day Memorial Service on April 24th.

Anaru's Ihaka poker work art talents were recently recognised in the March 19 edition of the New Zealand Petrolhead Newspaper. Anaru has been involved in this particular art form for two years and is part of the passion that he has for Custom and Classic cars. He is currently working with his father restoring a 72 XA Falcon.

Congratulations to Hayden Wilson who represented Fairfield College in the disability section of the Waikato Zone Athletics. He was placed 2nd in the 100,200,400m which qualified him to represent Fairfield College in the North Island Secondary School Athletics.

Congratulations to Legen Hale Williams who was selected to be a youth ambassador to represent Te Wanaga o Aotearoa for the next twelve months. Legen was a part of a group of seven Fairfield College students who participated in the Youth Summit that was held at Turangawaewae marae (March 27-27). The Youth Summit organisers spoke highly of Fairfield College students and said that they were excellent ambassadors of our school. Legen will be representing youth at various symposiums throughout the year and will be receiving regular mentoring from Te Wanaga during this time.

Congratulations to Nathaniel Whanga and Hemara Tihore-Whare for achieving 50 Positive Behaviour for Learning Cards and for qualifying to attend a special Principals Morning Tea. Both boys are the inaugural recipients of this award and I congratulate them for the positive way that they have represented the Fairfield College 3 Be's in their behaviours.

Congratulations to Bailey Nepe who competed at the Royal New Zealand Aero Club National Championships and received the Jean Batten Trophy for pre-flight inspection, cicuits and spot landings. Bailey will be celebrating his 16th birthday on May 9th with his first solo flight.
