SCHOOL BALL – any senior student wanting to attend the ball this year must have an 85% attendance (per week) from now until the 16^th June. This will be checked before you pay for your ticket. Thank you. GVA

Hey guys if you are year 9 our 12SPL class is running lunch time activities for you to participate in. Come along to the gym lunch Friday the 18^th and get involved in a gamer of soccer and compete against other classes to see who comes out on top.

A Midsummer Night's Dream drama trip: Students from 9H or from the Year 11, 12 and 13 Drama classes, who wish to attend the performance in Auckland of "A Midsummer Night's Dream" on May 23^rd, should pay NOW. Remember that only 32 seats are available, so the first 32 students to pay will go on the trip. The ticket and the bus fare together are $42.

Monday 28^th and Tuesday 29^th May : Career Services seminars for Year 10 Maori students, here at school.

Wednesday 30^th May : Agriscience and Business presentation, period 1 in the Library. This will involve several speakers talking briefly about their work, eg dairy farmers, rural banker, rural accountant, electricians. Lots of career opportunities in this area – presentation open to Years 11, 12, 13 and 14 students only.

Wednesday 30^th May : University of Waikato Information Evening for the Sir Edmund Hillary Scholarship Programme, for students and parents. Pick up registration details from Mrs Rae-Middleton.

Friday 8^th June : Electricity Supply Industry Training Organisation (ESITO), period 2 in G4. More details later.

Sunday 17^th June : Otiwhiti Station Farm School Open Day, 1.00pm to 3.00pm, tertiary training in the Agricultural industry. Otiwhiti Station is 15 minutes from Hunterville in the Turakina Valley. See the poster in the Library or on the Pathways Centre Notice Board.

Wednesday 20^th June : University of Auckland "Parents' Seminar", 7.00pm, Hamilton Gardens. This is for the parents of students who are considering studying at this University next year. Contact Mrs Rae-Middleton for registration details.

Thursday 21^st June : University of Auckland Health Sciences Day – an opportunity to visit this University to learn more about the courses available in the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences and to visit the campus. See Mrs Rae-Middleton for registration details.

Friday 22^nd June : Otago University Faculty of Law Career Function, here in Hamilton, 12.30pm – 1.30pm. This will be of interest to senior students who have an interest in law as a career. Registrations are essential – see Mrs Rae-Middleton.

Tuesday 26^th June : University of Auckland Campus Day for Maori and Pacific Year 12 and 13 students. See Mrs Rae-Middleton if you are interested.

Friday 10^th August : Wintec Open Day ("Huge Day Out").

Applications

University of Otago – scholarships will open late in June and will be closing on August 15^th.

Waikato University – online applications for Sir Edmund Hillary Scholarships will be closing on 1^st October, not 31^st October as previously advertised.

Waikato University – applications for Teacher Education programmes will be available online from 1^st July.

ESITO Taster Courses: If you are thinking about a career in the electricity supply industry, ESITO runs taster courses for students 16 years and over and with Level One NCEA, to provide a free introduction to the industry and the chance to gain skills, experience and knowledge. A Hamilton taster course is being held at Wintec during the next school holidays – see Mrs Rae-Middleton for more information.

SPORTS

AIR PISTOL SHOOTING: If you are interested in being involved please check the SSC for more details and pick up a permission slip and return to the SSC by the end of May.

SPORTS FEES: 2012 sports fees are all due NOW!!!! Please pay immediately or see Miss Vincent if you have any concerns.

Badminton: Div 3 Boys have a bye this Tuesday so practice as usual for all team on Tuesday.

PE GEAR SHED: The gear shed will be open every Tuesday and Thursday lunchtimes for the first 5 mins for you to come and use sports equipment. You must leave your bag or a valuable item in the gear shed whilst using sports equipment; this will be returned to you when you bring back the equipment that was issued to you. ALL EQUIPMENT MUST BE RETURNED 5 MINS BEFORE THE BELL AND YOU ARE NOT TO BE LATE TO YOUR NEXT CLASS! If this is not done you will not be allowed to use gear in the future.

ALL RUGBY PLAYERS: Fees for this year are as follows: 1^st XV $50 and all other teams $40. These fees are due now.

Badminton Teams: Reminder to return badminton permission slip and $35 fee to the SSC asap. A form can be collected from the SSC.
